Heidi Simon is a self-taught Mi’kmaq Jewelry Designer / Creator from Elsipogtog (Big Cove) First Nation. Growing up in her family, Heidi was surrounded by Artist, Painters, Musicians, Writers, Beaders & Leather works. In the last 3 years, Heidi has returned to her creative roots and is designing, a mix of traditional and contemporary Native jewelry; mixing quills with Swarovski crystals and Wampum beads with Swarovski crystals. Heidi has been able to incorporate the traditional double motive curve of the Wabanaki people into her wire wrapping (Arrowhead necklaces). As well as incorporate the Traditional Medicine Wheel colors into her earrings and necklaces. She has designed a signature Four-color charm and incorporates this selectively into some of her pieces. Her collection consists of handcrafted Necklaces, Earrings, Leather Medicine pouches, Authentic Dream-catchers with Turquoise stone in the web, leather key-chains, headbands, feather hair-clips, leather bracelets. Most of her earrings hooks are Sterling Silver and a third of her works are completely done in Sterling Silver. (Slowing converting completely to Sterling silver). This collection uses real Turquoise stones, Amethyst Stones, Stone Arrowheads, Deer hide, Snake skin, various Bone pendants and beads, Buffalo horn beads, Porcupine quills, Wampum beads, various shell pendants and beads, Feathers, Glass beading beads with medicine wheel colors and fire colors. (No acrylic or plastic is used in any pieces)
